2013 Honda Civic Hybrid Expert Review

In 2012, the ninth generation of Honda Civic was released and unfortunately its price disappointed everybody. In 2013 they modified it in order to be more appreciated and they created a pretty exterior, satisfying suspension and a snazzy interior.
The new car looks classy and elegant, especially because of its black honeycomb grille and angled headlamps that make it refined and stylish. The body colored mirrors are also able to impress everybody and so are the door handles. If you choose the optional allow wheels then your car is going to look even more interesting.

The seats are definitely well shaped and the best part is that they are widely adjustable. This way you will be able to feel comfortable all the time.
The engine is a 140 horsepower one and it produces 128 foot pounds of torque that can help you drive a powerful car. The 5 speed automatic transmission makes this car easy to drive and no matter if you are an experienced driver or a beginner you can really enjoy the new Honda.
If you need more power then you can buy the sport version of this car, the Civic Si which has a 2.4 liter twin- cam four- cylinder, which is able to make 201 horsepower and to produce 170 foot pounds of torque.
You can also purchase the Civic Hybrid which has a 1.5 liter SOHC 16-valve four cylinder engine (it produces 110 hp and 127 lb-ft of torque) and a 23-hp electric motor assistance. The fuel economy can be rated at 44/44 mpg and it is the best choice if you want to save gas money and protect the environment in the same time.

Lineup

Honda Civic comes in six models and each of them has different features and of course, a different price. The Civic EX, LX and EX-L are available as a sedan or coupe and they have 1.8 liter four cylinder engines that produce 140 horsepower. The sport version Civic Si has a bigger engine, a 2.4 liter one while Civic HF has a hybrid gas-electric power train. The basic model Civic GX runs on natural gas.
The most affordable version is represented by Civic LX Sedan and of course Civic LX Coupe. The price for the coupe version starts at $17,965 while the price for the sedan version is somewhere around $18.165. This model offers you a 5 speed manual transmission, air conditioning, fabric upholstery, leather wrapped steering wheel and steering wheel audio controls.
The Civic EX Sedan is more expensive, $20,815, and so is the Civic Ex Coupe which has two different prices according to the transmission system. If you want a manual transmission one then the price is $20,115 while for an automatic transmission car you have to pay $20,815.
The Civic EX-L costs $22,265 and it comes with leather upholstery and even with heated front seats.
Civic HF sedan is not expensive at all, it costs $19,765 and it was created for maximum fuel efficiency with an economy tuned engine. The car has a 5 speed automatic transmission and it is extremely easy to drive.
The Civic GX sedan costs $24,465 and it burns natural gas which is more expensive. You can also buy the Hybrid version which costs $24,360 and it allows you to save a lot of money on gas in the future. For $22.715 you can easily be the owner of Civic Si Sedan or Coupe and you will be able to drive a powerful car with a 2.4 liter engine and 6 speed manual transmission.

Walkaround

The differences between the 2012 Civic Sedan and the 2013 one are definitely noticeable and if you buy the new car then you can be sure that it will catch some eyes.
The nose and the tail of the car are new and the black honeycomb mesh grill looks extremely serious. We must also mention the front bumper that offers excellent definition.
The car also has thinned A-pillars but the steep rake of the windshield was not modified at all. The side sills are more impressive now because of their body colored mirrors and door handles.
There were also some small modifications when it comes to the front floor and upper wheel housing, but these ones are not as noticeable as the other ones.
One thing is for sure, the 2013 model is definitely better looking than the previous one and you are going to be able to enjoy a bold and impressive car.

Interior

The interior was modified in order to match its competitors. The 2013 Honda Civic has standard Bluetooth audio and Bluetooth phone, and also Pandora internet radio interface. It also has USB, MP3, iPod and SMS text message capability. This way your car can read you your text messages and it can also answer them with a default message such as “I’m driving”.
The interior is a classy, all black one, and it looks amazing for everybody no matter if the driver is a woman or a man.
The seats are well shaped and extremely comfortable, especially because they are widely adjustable.
The dashboard is a two tiered one and it is definitely unique. It allows the driver to scan without taking his eyes off the road.
The materials on the instrument panel, door panels and center console are soft touch ones and of course good quality ones and the silver accents here and there bring more elegance to your car.
The carpets are black and they look simple and classy. If you want something more different then you can always buy new ones from authorized stores. Some well chosen carpets can change the image of the whole car.

Driving impression

After driving the standard Civic 1.8 liter i-VTEC engine that produces 140 horsepower and 128 foot-pounds of torque we find it adequate. You can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 9.2 seconds. The engine is smooth and the cabin is quiet and you will be able to feel a stronger car than it actually is.
The 5 speed automatic transmission does not have to struggle to keep up or kick down and you will be able to enjoy a solid and comfortable ride.
There were also some changes made when it comes to the suspension too. The anti roll bars front and rear are thicker and the bushings are firmer. The front subframe body structure is stiffer and the difference is easy to feel. The overall level of dynamic competence is hard to fault and it can be considered totally predictable without false moves or surprises.
You should not forget that we are talking about a sedan here. It is not supposed to be fun to drive so you do not have to compare it with sport cars. If you want something more powerful then you can buy the Civic Si which is definitely hard to beat.

Summary

If you want to buy a special car then you should not neglect Honda Civic. It looks amazing, it is a safe car and the price is definitely affordable. You can choose between several models according to your needs and budget.
